The Atlas 4-Day Berber Villages Trek is a deep cultural immersion into the remote valleys of the western High Atlas — taking you through traditional Berber villages, terraced fields, and hidden valleys that most travelers never see. Unlike summit-focused treks, this route prioritizes village life, encounters with local herders and farmers, and the stunning agricultural landscapes that have sustained Berber communities for centuries.
Starting from Imi Oughlad (1,450 m), the trek follows the little-visited Assif n’Ait Oussaden valley — a network of red-clay terraced villages, walnut groves, and quiet passes — before crossing into the Azzaden Valley via Tizi Oussem. The final day visits the Ighouliden Waterfalls and crosses the panoramic Tizi M’zzik pass (2,489 m) with views of the Toubkal massif before descending to Imlil.
The entire route lies within the Toubkal National Park (established 1942). This is an easy to moderate trek, ideal for families, culture-focused travelers, and anyone wanting an unhurried immersion into Berber mountain life with guesthouse stays every night. For a more challenging option, see our 4-Day Wild Atlas Mountain Trek or the 4-Day Toubkal Ascent.
Imlil Trek operates under Extra Mile Travel (License #16D/19), a licensed Moroccan tour operator based in the Imlil valley with over a decade of experience organizing treks in the Toubkal National Park.
Note: Prices are for the 2026 season and may increase during the winter season and in periods of snow. Additional costs may apply due to extra logistics, including the use of porters and additional mountain guides required for safety and equipment transport.

Day 4 Stats:
Seasonal note: This trek runs year-round. Winter (Dec–Feb) may require warm layers on passes; spring offers green valleys and waterfalls; summer is warm — start early; autumn provides clear views and harvest colours.
Easy to moderate — this is a cultural trek, not a summit challenge. Daily walks of 5–6 hours on gentle mule tracks through villages and valleys. The highest point is the Tizi M’zzik pass (2,489 m) on Day 4. Suitable for families, first-time trekkers, and all fitness levels.
This is the culture-focused option — it prioritizes Berber village encounters, agricultural landscapes, and off-the-beaten-path valleys (the Ait Oussaden) over summit climbing or wilderness camping. The 4-Day Toubkal Ascent focuses on summiting; the 4-Day Wild Atlas Trek is a wilderness camping traverse.
