The Toubkal Ascent 3-Day Trek via the Azzaden Valley is one of the most rewarding trekking routes in the High Atlas Mountains. It combines a classic ascent of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m) — the highest peak in North Africa — with a scenic circuit through the beautiful Azzaden Valley, offering a more varied and less crowded experience than the standard route.
Starting from Marrakech, the journey begins with a transfer to Imlil (1,740 m), the main trekking gateway of the Atlas Mountains. From here, the trail climbs across traditional Berber landscapes, juniper forests, high mountain passes, and remote valleys before reaching the Toubkal Refuge, the base camp for summit attempts.
The final ascent to the summit rewards trekkers with spectacular panoramic views across the High Atlas Mountains, stretching north toward Marrakech and south toward the Sahara Desert. The descent returns through the dramatic high-altitude landscape back to Imlil.
This trek is designed for active hikers with good physical fitness, but it does not require technical mountaineering skills. With experienced local Berber guides, carefully planned logistics, and full support along the route, it offers an unforgettable mountain adventure in Morocco.
In short: This 3-day Mount Toubkal trek combines the spectacular landscapes of the Azzaden Valley with the challenge of reaching the highest summit in North Africa, offering a balanced mix of mountain adventure, Berber culture, and breathtaking High Atlas scenery.
Transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1,740 m) followed by a scenic trek across the Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,489 m). The trail then descends into the beautiful Azzaden Valley, passing juniper forests and mountain landscapes before reaching the village of Tamsoult.
